I’ve always struggled with finding a lot of the popular self-help that circulates to be difficult for me to relate to. So much of it comes across to me as “I had this one struggle and it was SO hard, but then I figured out how to get out of it and you can too!” “I once was sad and now I’m happy! Look at me! Be like me! Follow me and you’ll be happy too!” Even some of those that seem to say that they don’t have it all figured out have an underlying theme of “You can relate to me! I’m a mess just like you!”
I don’t really feel like a mess, even when some people might have labeled me as that. I also don’t have it all figured out. Literally no person on earth has it figured out. It doesn't have to be one or the other. It just is what it is.
This is not a place of answers and guidance. This is a non-judgemental place of reflection, solidarity, and curiosity as we examine how light can exist in the darkness. Join us as we listen to all kinds of people as they share their stories.
Even in the darkest depths of the ocean and the farthest corners of the sky, there are creatures that create their own light and stars that shine in the distance. Some are brighter than others. Some are just flashes in the peripherals of our vision. Just like how the sun shines brightly during the day over your city and then moves on to another, only to return again the next. Darkness doesn’t have to be scary or isolating. It can just be what happens every day. And even during that darkest part of the day, there’s a light to be found somewhere.
